Off Performance Workshop

Performance Workshop founded an experimental group, Off Performance Workshop, on June 9, 2000. Under the leadership of Lee Chien-Chang and the help of Fu Hong-Tzeng and Chen Bor-Wei as well as PW, OFFPW produced a total of 26 productions. We made 112 performances, averaging 8 productions and 37 performances per year, achieving very remarkable results. The fundamental goal of OFFPW is to research and use experimental and creative methods to bring new elements into a play. With the turn of a new century, we hope to incorporate current events and trends into our plays making it more well rounded. As a result of the overwhelming pressures of informational media, the survival of traditional theater is in jeopardy. Therefore, we should ask ourselves a very simple question: What is the difference between a play, a movie and television? As a group, we hope to gather all the talent and expertise in this field and together, we shall give birth to a new generation of theater.
